2008 Activities
|
Coordinated by Louise Caywood of Pierce County & Nisqually Chapters, members from three different Chapters spent time promoting the Leave No Trace principles at the Sportsmen Show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.
With the LNT Trailer peeking out of the corner, Louise set up a great display in a wall tent, full of information on LNT (including a TV playing a great DVD on LNT). We had chairs lent from K & S Saddlery & ‘bear proof’ boxes and pictures of the bear that tried to get into them last year. The ever photogenic Mary Poste (along with hubby, Tom Poste) show some of the LNT posters.
One of the benefits of volunteering was the ability to wander the show after our shift. Here, Dave Jones and Tom Poste listen (rapturously) to stories of Elk hunting from the various outfitters. One of the more fun booths was the one that offered goat packing.
