New Year's Day Ride at Mill Pond

A cold, crisp January day greeted us at 7 AM.

The trail started out rocky & very uphill.

As the power lines came into view, Dave Jones on the wonder mule, Sizzlin Susie Q, points to the next stretch of trail.

Tom and Mary Post rest at the top, while Heather Voboril leading Hawk heads into the woods.

Heather on her Arab, Ibbin, leading Hawk braves the 50 MPH gusts.

Back at camp by the highway, the group (almost literally) circles the trailers to provide a wind break.

Everyone appreciated the new Pierce County Chapter trailer complete with indoor stove and outdoor propane to provide hot food and coffee;  Mark Reiss demonstrates.

A cracking fire in the fire pit kept everyone warm.

Right, Dave Jones & Mike Lentz load up on hot food cooked on the outside propane stove.

2008 Trail Scout, Thurston Pritchard, and 2007 PCC President, Tom Poste, relax after an exciting ride.

The 'other half' of the exciting ride team, 2008 Trail Scout, Dave Jones, and Mary Poste, take their turns by the fire.
